This patch focusses on further expanding the AI and making it easier to feed on them by introducing growth stages and killing them off if they get too old, ensuring a constant cycle of fresh meat.

Features:

  • AI now dies of old age.
  • AI can now spawn as any life stage.
  • AI part of a group—especially young AI animals—can now break away from the group for exploration; use this to your advantage when hunting.
  • Added breakable beehives with food loot drops to the map.
  • Players spawning into the world now have 30 seconds of spawn protection from the AI, where they won't be considered prey. They might still consider you hostile if feeling threatened, or attack back when attacked. This helps prevent being ganked by the AI on spawn.

Tweaks:

  • Slightly bumped overall AI count.
  • Initial pass to decrease AI aggressiveness, should aggro less often and from less far away. More work planned.
  • Some quick polish for Coelophysis' IK to be a bit less jank as juvie, still needs further work.

Bugfixes:

  • Fixed some bleed effects spawning in the air.

Addendum:

There have since also been a few hotfixes:

  • Fixed an issue where dead ambient AI couldn't be picked up and eaten.
  • Fixed an issue where ambient AI was defying death by making sounds post mortem.
  • Fixed an issue where dead ambient AI and items were sometimes falling through the floor.
  • Fixed reeds not being placable in nest.
  • Corrected server performance issue with respawning interactive foliage instances.
  • Fixed various issues with the player name tags not being visible.
  • Speculative fix for deinonychus sometimes falling through world while climbing.
